From Falling in Love with Habitat to Building Homes and Hope: Anna's Journey

Meet Anna Tuell, a compassionate soul and a driving force behind the transformative work of Chatham Habitat for Humanity. Anna's journey with Habitat began on a trip in 2008, where she not only discovered her passion for the organization but also found love in the form of her husband, Jason.

A Dedicated Professional: Originally from Wilmington, NC, Anna graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with majors in English and History. In 2011, she moved to the Triangle to join Jason and started her career with Chatham Habitat for Humanity. Beginning with answering phones and scheduling truck pickups in the ReStore, Anna's dedication led her to become the Development Director in 2014 and later take charge of the Finance Department in 2020.

Building Homes, Transforming Lives: Chatham Habitat for Humanity, under Anna's leadership, strives to build safe, healthy, and affordable homes, selling them at 0% interest to families earning between 30 and 70% of Area Median Income. Through a combination of individual donors, grants, and proceeds from mortgages and ReStore sales, the organization has helped 154 families achieve the dream of homeownership.

Passion Beyond Profession: In addition to her professional achievements, Anna's personal life is equally fulfilling. In 2016, she married Jason, and in 2018, they welcomed their daughter, Conner, into the world. Jason, a Social Worker at UNC, and Anna reside in Carrboro with their two dogs, Millie and Fern. Anna's spare time is filled with reading, cooking, and ambitious home renovation projects that add a personal touch to their lives.
